THE GRASSHOPPER AND THE ANT

SPECIAL FOCUS: Science: Insect Study

A lively and imaginative adaptation of the classic Aesop's fable promotes study of the fascinating world of insects.

In this highly visual presentation, students will learn about body parts and metamorphosis, adaptation and survival, the food chain and ecology from puppets of six different orders of insects, along with several non-insects. Thoughtful participation opportunities invite scientific inquiry as large, colorful hand puppets magnify the cast to easily visible proportions, with the industrious ants seen hard at work in their underground tunnels as shadow puppets.

The fantastic finale features the grasshopper in mask, playing fiddle with an audience band. Have fun seeing a traditional tale brought to life, and learn about some of the most successful animals on earth!
